On Tuesday night, officials of the Nigeria Navy clashed with the Nigeria Police in Calabar .The clash resulted in the death of three police officers and a police station set ablaze by rampaging Naval officers.
The clash reportedly started when a police traffic warden stopped a group of Naval officers that reportedly tried to beat the traffic light at a check point opposite the Navy barracks in the Akim area .
A police source confirmed the incident to Channels saying that it followed a clash between some naval officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
According to the source, a misunderstanding happened at a check point opposite the Navy barracks in Akim area of the town.
He said trouble began after a police man stopped a naval officer at Akim police check point but allegedly refused to stop, leading to a shootout.
The Navy reportedly mobilised later this evening and set the police station ablaze.
